The Anna Shaw Children’s Institute (ASCI) and the Creative Arts Guild are inviting the community to "Arts in the Treetops: Playing in Harmony," a free music event on Friday at 6 p.m. at the institute, 1201 Burleyson Road.
The event is for all children and is designed to introduce the community to the music therapy program at ASCI.
“We’re excited to partner with the Creative Arts Guild in this program,” said Laurie McGee, therapy manager. “Music can be a fun and powerful tool to help children in developing relationships, language and motor skills to function better in everyday life.”
The event will include five interactive music stations: hand drums, keyboard, guitar, auto harp and tone bars. David Rogers, acoustic guitar performer, will provide a children’s music concert, and Laura Ogas, board-certified music therapist for ASCI, will facilitate a creative movement session.
ASCI is planning future collaboration events to bring the arts to all children.
