Bethel A.M.E. Church invites the public to its Hour of Power Bible studies on Wednesdays at 6 p.m., followed by Bible study at 6:30 p.m. The church is at 620 Spring St.

• Do you like to sing and have fellowship with other senior adults? Then the place for you is with the Sounds of Joy. The Sounds of Joy is a senior adult interdenominational singing group sponsored by Dalton First United Methodist Church. The group normally presents four programs a year at various nursing homes and adult care facilities in Dalton and Whitfield County. Rehearsal is each Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for one hour in the music suite of Dalton First United Methodist Church. Hopewell Baptist Church observes an Old Fashion Day program on Sunday at 3 p.m. The afternoon guests are Pastor T.L. Mitchell and the Mount Zion Baptist Church congregation. A fellowship meal will be served after the morning worship service. Pastor Windell Smith invites everyone and asks you to wear your old fashion attire. The church is at 3527 Airport Road.

• The Rev. Delford Hughley and Greater St. John Baptist Church are the 10 a.m. guests in observance of Harvest/Old Fashion Day Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church. Lunch will be served upon their arrival. Bishop Bennie Tibbs and Holy Gospel Temple are the 2 p.m. guests in observance of Family and Friends Day. Everyone is welcome.

Riverbend Church of Christ opens a benevolent house each Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for area residents in need. Individuals can choose from a variety of clothing, shoes, household items and more at no charge. The ministry is in the white house beside the church building at 2218 S. Riverbend Road. To donate items, drop them off during operating hours or leave them on the front porch. Tax receipts are available.

Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Church will deliver plates of food in Murray County this Thanksgiving Day. If you are in Murray County or know someone who would like a plate this year, contact Trudy Swilling at (706) 695-6076 by today.

• The Trinity United Methodist Men's Club has its third annual Breakfast With Santa on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. All you can eat pancakes and sausage and drinks are $6 per person. You can also donate $1 for a chance to win a prize including lap quilts, Christmas wreaths and other items. There will be a Secret Santa Shop where children can buy gifts for their parents. You can also take pictures with Santa in is sleigh on your own or you can purchase pictures with Santa for $2 each. Proceeds go to help needy families at Christmas. • Christians Under Construction, described as a practical, biblical discussion of Christian living, meets each Friday at 7 p.m. at True Gospel Holiness Church. The facilitator is Mary Coppage. The church is at 109 S. Henderson St. in Dalton.
