• Do you like to sing and have fellowship with other senior adults? Then the place for you is with the Sounds of Joy. The Sounds of Joy is a senior adult interdenominational singing group sponsored by Dalton First United Methodist Church. The group normally presents four programs a year at various nursing homes and adult care facilities in Dalton and Whitfield County. Rehearsal is each Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for one hour in the music suite of Dalton First United Methodist Church. • The New Horizon meeting is Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Dalton. The charge is $8 and will be collected at the door. The entertainment will be The Men’s Ensemble. Please make your reservation by Friday, Dec. 6, by calling the church office at (706) 278-2911.

Grace Baptist Church hosts a Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Special guests are the Morrison Sisters from Calhoun. Everyone is invited for gospel singing, preaching, food and fellowship. There will be no Sunday school or evening service on this date. The church is at 2049 Lower Kings Bridge Road.

Poplar Springs Baptist Church has a men's breakfast on Sunday at 8 a.m. in the fellowship hall. Dalton resident Levoyd Whitten is the guest speaker. All men and boys are invited to enjoy the meal and to join in searching and exploring the holy Scriptures

Riverbend Church of Christ opens a benevolent house each Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for area residents in need. Individuals can choose from a variety of clothing, shoes, household items and more at no charge. The ministry is in the white house beside the church building at 2218 S. Riverbend Road. To donate items, drop them off during operating hours or leave them on the front porch. Tax receipts are available.

• The Trinity United Methodist Men's Club has its third annual Breakfast With Santa on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. All you can eat pancakes and sausage and drinks are $6 per person. You can also donate $1 for a chance to win a prize including lap quilts, Christmas wreaths and other items. There will be a Secret Santa Shop where children can buy gifts for their parents. You can also take pictures with Santa in his sleigh on your own or you can purchase pictures with Santa for $2 each. Proceeds go to help needy families at Christmas. The church is at 901 Veterans Drive.

• Christians Under Construction, described as a practical, biblical discussion of Christian living, meets each Friday at 7 p.m. at True Gospel Holiness Church. The facilitator is Mary Coppage. The church is at 109 S. Henderson St. in Dalton.

• Pastor Bishop Reuben Graham invites the public to True Gospel Pentecostal Church for its annual Men's Day Program on Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker is Elder James Washington, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church of Calhoun. The church is at 109 S. Henderson St. in Dalton.
