Now an annual event for the Creative Arts Guild, this year's Dia de los Muertos is Saturday, Nov. 2, from 5 to 10:30 p.m at the Guild's facility, 520 W. Waugh St.
The event features live music, traditional food vendors, beer and wine, traditional clothing and jewelry vendors, arts and crafts, face painting, a children's Halloween costume contest with prizes, Catrina or Catrin costume contests for adults, plus a traditional altar contest with cash prize for the winner. Convenient event parking is at First Baptist Church of Dalton with a shuttle provided. Dia de los Muertos is a family-friendly event, free and open to the community.
Dia de los Muertos -- the Day of the Dead -- is an annual holiday typically celebrated on Nov. 1. Although found throughout Latin America, Dia de los Muertos is most strongly associated with Mexico, where the tradition originated.
