JASPER, Fla. — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a Saturday night incident in which a Jasper teenager was shot in the face.
According to the HCSO, 18-year-old Eugene Highland Jr. was shot in the face Saturday around 9 p.m.
Witnesses said the victim went outside of a house Saturday evening before coming back in roughly 15-20 minutes later holding a towel to his jaw, according to the HCSO report.
According to the HCSO, the victim did not make any statements initially about the shooting or the injuries. The shooting took place behind the old Hamilton County High School in Jasper.
The victim has undergone a pair of surgeries following the shooting and both went well, according to a family member on social media.
There are no known suspects in the case.
