DALTON, Ga. — A Chatsworth man is facing a number of felony charges after being arrested for beating a pregnant woman.
Jeremy Ladale Jones, 40, of 412 Treadwell Road-218, has been charged by the Chatsworth Police Department with battery on an unborn child, battery (family violence), aggravated battery, aggravated assault (family violence) and terroristic threats and acts.
According to an incident report, a Chatsworth police officer was sent to Treadwell Road around 7:54 p.m. on Wednesday after a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman said Jones had beaten her. The officer noted severe redness and swelling on her face and mouth and left hand. The woman said she was 35 weeks pregnant with Jones' child and was concerned about her baby. She said she had been "vomiting profusely."
The officer found Jones and noticed the smell of an alcoholic beverage on him. The officer noted a hole in the bathroom door and blood on the bed. The officer arrested Jones and the woman was taken to Hamilton Medical Center. The officer collected a bloody shirt the woman said she had changed out of as evidence.
The officer then went to Hamilton Medical Center to gather more information from the woman. She said that when she got home around 6 p.m Jones began to call her names. When she went to the bathroom, Jones began to strike her with his fists and with open-hand strikes. He then demanded she rub his back, and when she didn't do it the way he wanted, he beat her. She said he threatened to kill her and their baby if she called police.
She said at one point Jones turned his back on her and began to urinate on the floor, and she was able to run to another apartment and ask them to call the police.
