The Daily Citizen won 20 awards Saturday from the Georgia Associated Press for its reporting and photography in 2009, including seven first place awards and the story and photo of the year for our circulation division.

It is the second time in the last two months that The Daily Citizen and its staff have been recognized for its coverage. In June, the newspaper won 16 awards from the Georgia Press Association.

“The staff of your hometown paper works very hard and does not always get recognized for the quality journalism they provide to our community,” Daily Citizen Publisher William Bronson said. “When the Georgia AP rewards you with this many honors we should all be proud. I can take no credit for their great work, but I am very proud to be associated with such a great news team.”
