A Dalton man was arrested Tuesday for raping a girl who was spending the night with his younger sister, authorities said.

Gary Allen Grayson, 22, of 620 Haig Mill Lake Road, was charged by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with rape and child molestation.

“During the night Grayson got into bed with the 15-year-old and had sexual intercourse with her against her will,” said Capt. Rick Swiney with the sheriff’s office. Swiney said the incident was at Grayson’s home.

Grayson was refused bond by Magistrate Judge Sidney Baxter on Wednesday and will appear in Superior Court for a bond hearing on Friday, a Clerk of Court spokeswoman said.

• A Dalton man was charged with sexual battery for an incident while an “adult female relative” spent the night at his home.

Clabourn Green Baker, 52, of 332 Whaley Drive S.E., was charged Tuesday by the sheriff’s office with sexual battery.

“She was asleep on the couch and when she woke up during the night he was touching her inappropriately between her legs,” Swiney said.

Baker was given a $3,000 bond on Wednesday but was still in jail late that afternoon.
