Townsend: "Everybody makes mistakes, and I made a bad one"

Michael Brandon Townsend

A Dalton man was found guilty of four counts of murder this afternoon in the double-slaying of a mother and daughter he shared a house with off Cleveland Highway.

A Whitfield County Superior Court jury deliberated for 37 minutes before finding Michael Brandon Townsend guilty on all charges — four counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of aggravated battery.

Townsend was on trial for the Jan. 9 murder of Krystal Spainhour and Judy Potts in the home he shared with them at 234 Tanglewood Drive N.E. Townsend admitted to the murders, but his defense attorneys argued he was “insane” during the killings.
