Thirty-eight residents of a Dalton apartment complex were displaced after an early morning fire on Sunday, according to the Dalton Fire Department. There were no reported injuries.
The fire department responded to a structure fire at the Underwood Lodge apartments at 1306 Underwood St. When firefighters arrived, they saw fire showing from two units and the attic. Crews were dispatched at 2:03 a.m. and arrived at 2:09 a.m. The incident was cleared at 4:45 a.m.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. It is still being investigated. Two-and-a half units have fire damage and several more have smoke and water damage. The Red Cross was contacted to assist four residents.
Dalton Police Department officers also responded to the scene and helped evacuate residents.
