Fourth of July closings, changes

• City of Dalton offices will be closed on Thursday for Independence Day.

• The city of Dalton Public Works Department is closed Thursday to observe Independence Day. Garbage and recycling for Thursday will be picked up on Friday. Today and Friday pickups remain the same.

• Dalton Utilities' and OptiLink's business offices will be closed on Thursday in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. The utility's 24-hour outage line, (706) 278-1313, is available to customers who may experience service interruptions or issues during this time. The business offices will reopen on Friday at 8 a.m.

• Four Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority facilities are closed Thursday in observance of Independence Day. Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill and Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center, Westside Convenience Center and the M.L. King Jr. Convenience Center. • All Whitfield County offices will be closed for the Fourth of July holiday on Thursday.

• The city of Varnell will run its trash service for the city on Friday, instead of the usual day on Thursday, the July 4 holiday. Also, Varnell City Hall will be closed on the Fourth of July and will reopen on Friday. For more information, call (706) 694-8800.
