A Dalton man wanted in connection with a shooting that sent two people to local hospitals has been arrested.
Jobanie Martinez, 21, 3361 Freedom Lane, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office with aggravated battery (gun), burglary (forced entry, dwelling), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony probation violation, criminal attempt to commit a felony and criminal violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act.
The incident happened at approximately 11 p.m. on Aug. 18 at a residence on Dozier Street in Dalton. Investigators say that Martinez and the residents were associates and had been in some sort of a dispute. Investigators say that Martinez went to the residence and after being there a short time began shooting at the victims with a handgun. Martinez then fled.
The victims, a 21-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, were taken to local hospitals. Police said their injuries were not life threatening.
