There will be some new faces at today’s meeting of the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center Authority.

T.J. Kaikobad, owner of The Dalton Depot restaurant, will be joining the board. Kaikobad replaces Pete Flammini, who stepped down last year after closing his restaurant.

And Dalton City Council member Charlie Bethel joins the board as the city’s representative, replacing fellow council member Bobby Grant. Bethel said during his campaign last year that the trade center should more actively try to partner with a private firm to build a hotel next to the trade center.

Sandra Fontenot, manager of the Hampton Inn, has left the board after being named manager of the Hampton Inn in Pensacola Beach, Fla. Fontenot left for Florida earlier this week. Trade center director Rick Tanner says the Dalton Hospitality Association has suggested Harvey Neal, general manager of the Country Inn and Suites, to replace Fontenot. That nomination must be approved by the Dalton City Council and the Whitfield County Board of Commissioners.

Board members receive no pay for their work.

The board is scheduled to elect its officers and to receive its final financial report for 2005 at today’s meeting.
