For the past four years, I have learned a tremendous amount about the city of Dalton and its operations. I feel I have much more to learn, but more importantly I still have more work to do. And my passion and commitment to the community is the reason why I am officially announcing my campaign for re-election for Dalton City Council.
I have been married to my beautiful wife Ana for 15 years, who teaches for Dalton Public Schools, and we have two wonderful children together: Andre Jr. (age 12) and Kamea (age 9), both who attend DPS. I graduated from Dalton High School, and I am also a graduate of Columbia Southern University with a degree in business administration.
As a lifelong resident of Dalton I am motivated and committed to continue to address the problem of childhood poverty here in Dalton.
I am equally motivated and committed to fighting for equality for all citizens, assisting the board of education with collaborative approaches to improve educational outcomes, investing in job creation and economic development, and I will continue to propose action to equalize our city employees' compensation versus private industry.
I'm willing to work diligently to help rebuild James Brown Park and work with city and county officials, community leaders and school leaders to construct an aquatic center that will benefit the entire community, so that all the local schools including the college will have a place to practice and compete. Additionally, I will work tirelessly to work with leaders to construct a regulation size soccer field so that our local athletes will have a place to practice, play and compete.
I will study the city's current housing construction and zoning regarding the quality of houses being built, and the size of the lots in which they are being built.
The continuation of allowing construction of low quality houses will devalue surrounding homes and neighborhoods.
Lastly, I will always demonstrate transparency while providing a voice of equality in all dealings with the city.
These are some of my ideas, and my commitments to all of the citizens.
