Former Dalton High School football player Kyric McGowan, now a running back for Northwestern, had a standout performance against Purdue on Saturday rushing for 146 yards on 17 carries including a 79-yard touchdown run.

Northwestern lost the game 24-22 to drop to 1-8 on the season. McGowan's long touchdown run came on Northwestern's second play from scrimmage.

McGowan, a junior who started his college career at wide receiver, converted to running back this season. So far he has 28 rushes for 177 yards and 13 receptions for 102 yards.

McGowan graduated from Dalton in 2017.
