Former Northwest Whitfield High School football player Isaiah Mack recovered a fumble Thursday in his preseason National Football League debut with the Tennessee Titans.

The third-quarter recovery came after the ball was forced out by Titans cornerback Tye Smith. Mack also recorded one solo tackle and one assisted tackle in the game.

The defensive tackle graduated this past spring from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga as the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year. The 2014 Northwest graduate finished 17th in voting for the Buck Buchanan Award, which is awarded annually to the most outstanding defensive player in the FCS. He finished his college career with 222 tackles, 41 tackles for loss and 21 sacks.

The 6-1, 299-pound Mack is listed on the Titans' preseason roster after signing as an undrafted free agent in April, but has not yet made the official 53-man roster. He is listed third for his position on the unofficial depth chart for the Titans.

The Titans defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in their exhibition game Thursday, 27-10. They play again at 7 p.m. on Aug. 17 against the New England Patriots in another preseason game.
