High school basketball roundup: Local teams see host of wins

Northwest Whitfield (girls) 53, Dalton 43

Jada Griffin had a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds as the Northwest Whitfield Lady Bruins topped Dalton on the road Saturday, 53-43.

Tionna Baker added another 10 points, while Emma Allen had eight points and Mckenzie Brueckner had seven in the win for Northwest (17-3, 7-1 in Region 6-4A).

Dalton's Lauren Parker was the third player for the Lady Catamounts (10-8, 6-4 in Region 6-6A) this season to reach 1,000 career points. Parker ended the loss with 10 points, alongside McCall Maret. Kelsey Schneller led Dalton with 11 points.

Dalton hosts Osborne at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, while the Lady Bruins host LaFayette at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Christian Heritage (girls) 54, Model 42

Christian Heritage defeated Model on the road Saturday, 54-42.

Faith Humphrey scored 16 points for the Lady Lions (8-8, 3-3 in Region 6-A), while Madison Brown had 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Mary Kate Humphrey added another 11 points, and Haddie Chambless finished with nine points and eight rebounds.

Christian Heritage hosts Darlington at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Christian Heritage (boys) 66, Model 55

Drew Clements scored 22 points, and AJ Kent added 20 of his own as Christian Heritage defeated Model on the road Saturday, 66-55.

Evan Lester added 12 points for the Lions (14-2, 5-2 in Region 6-A), while Hardin Chambless scored nine points and had nine rebounds in the win.

The Lions host Darlington at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Southeast Whitfield (girls) 42, Boyd Buchanan 19

McKenna Lentych led Southeast Whitfield with 25 points as the Lady Raiders defeated Boyd Buchanan on the road Saturday. 42-19.

Brooke Taylor added seven points and 10 rebounds for Southeast (4-15, 1-8 in Region 6-4A), while Jurnee Harris chipped in six points and six rebounds. Madison Powell finished with 11 rebounds, while Jasmin Herrera and Lisette Gomez each had six rebounds.

The Lady Raiders host Ridgeland at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Southeast (boys) 59, Boyd Buchanan 53

Bryce Stanley led the way with 21 points as Southeast Whitfield took down Boyd Buchanan on the road Saturday, 59-53.

Zac Cole ended with a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds for the Raiders (9-10, 5-3 in Region 6-4A).

Southeast hosts Ridgeland at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
