High school basketball roundup: Northwest uses 30-point third quarter to surge past Gilmer

Coahulla Creek 51, Calhoun 44

Coahulla Creek traveled to Calhoun and picked up a win, 51-44, on Friday. Top scorers for the Lady Colts were Ema Turner (18) and Katelyn Richards (10).

With the victory, the Lady Colts improved to 12-2, 5-2 Region 6-3A. They play at Haralson County today at 3 p.m.

Christian Heritage 41, Trion 37

On the road, Christian Heritage beat Trion 41-37 behind Haddie Chambless' team-leading 18 points. Also for the Lady Lions, Faith Humphrey had 10 points and five steals and Ansley Adkins scored six points.

The Lady Lions moved to 9-3, 3-1 Region 6-A. They play Gordon Lee at home today at 3 p.m.

Gilmer 49, Northwest Whitfield 38

The Lady Bruins lost a home game to Gilmer 49-38. Leading Northwest was Tionna Baker, who had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Also for Northwest, Mikayla Ehlers had six points and McKenzie Brueckner had five points and five rebounds.

The Lady Bruins fell to 9-5, 5-1 Region 6-4A. They play Pickens on the road today at 3 p.m.

Pickens 72, Southeast Whitfield 51

The Lady Raiders fell on the road to Pickens, 72-51.

For Southeast, Lisette Gomez had 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals; Stephanie Sullivan contributed 11 point and seven rebounds; Jurnee Harris went for 11 points and six steals; Madison Powell had eight rebounds; Jenna Bennett pulled down seven rebounds; and Lily Phillips had six points.

The Lady Raiders are now 4-13, 1-5 Region 6-4A. They next host Gilmer on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Ringgold 59, Murray County 41

The Lady Indians (9-6) fell on the road to Ringgold, 59-41. Jordan Swanson led Murray County with 15 points.

The Lady Indians play at Adairsville tonight at 6.

Boys

Christian Heritage 42, Trion 39

Christian Heritage pulled out a close win on the road over Trion, 42-39. For the Lions, Nash Bingham had 21 points (including three three-pointers) and six rebounds while Drew Clements chipped in 12 points.

The Lions are 12-0, 4-0 Region 6-A. They play Gordon Lee at home today at 4:30 p.m.

Murray County 56, Ringgold 54

Murray County fought back from an early deficit to edge past Ringgold, 56-54. For the Indians, Haden Newport had 18 points and 10 rebounds, Athan Hicks went for 15 points and Brannen Nuckolls had 10 points.

Murray County improved to 10-4, 4-3 Region 6-3A. They play at Adairsville tonight at 7:30.

Northwest Whitfield, 77 Gilmer 45

Northwest Whitfield used a 30-point third quarter to cruise past visiting Gilmer, 77-45. Leading the Bruins was Blane Greene with 16 points. Also for Northwest, Kooper Pardee had 13 points, Emmanuel Washington contributed 10 points, Callen Nealey scored nine points and Damien Seritt chipped in eight points.

The Bruins are now 6-8, 4-1 Region 6-4A. They play Pickens on the road today at 4:30 p.m.
