Entering his senior season, Dalton High School running back Jahmyr Gibbs will now have one less thing to worry about once the games begin this fall.
On Saturday, Gibbs announced via his Twitter profile that he has committed to play college football at Georgia Tech. The elusive running back saw his profile rise this past season as went from an unranked prospect to a three-star national recruit, and in the process accumulated a number of college offers from some of the biggest football programs in the country.
Gibbs accounted for 1,895 total yards and 22 touchdowns as a junior while missing two full games due to injury, and was named the 2018 Daily Citizen-News Football Player of the Year. Gibbs was also named by the Atlanta Journal Constitution as an honorable mention all-state selection for Class 6A.
Gibbs is the 13th player to commit to Georgia Tech for the class of 2020 and is the only running back in that group. The Yellow Jackets list 12 running backs on their roster for the 2019-20 season, with two set to graduate in the spring of 2020.
Currently ranked the No. 9 all-purpose back in the country according to 247sports.com, Gibbs held offers from Michigan, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Mississippi State and Missouri among several others.
