Northwest Whitfield ended its season on Tuesday with two losses at Oconee County in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
The Lady Bruins were playing the first two games of a best-of-three, dropping the first game, 5-4, and the second, 7-2.
"Just didn't get the job done tonight," Northwest coach Todd Middleton said.
Oconee County scored three runs in the first inning in the first game, and Northwest fell just short of the comeback with two runs in the third and two in the fifth inning.
Shaylen Sutton led the efforts, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. She also pitched six innings. Mia Sewell was 2-for-3 with one run scored, and Kate Hannah, Abygail Jarvi, Molly Middleton, Alex Smith and Abi Snipes all had one hit.
Hannah and Middleton were both 2-for-3 in the second game. Mia Sewell and Payton Tuder each had one hit with an RBI. Sutton hit a double. Destin Sewell pitched all seven innings with four strikeouts.
The Lady Bruins will lose six seniors to graduation in Maeghan Byrd, Hannah, Middleton, Smith, Sutton and Tuder.
"I'm proud of what they did -- so proud of the seniors," coach Middleton said.
