Christian Heritage 10, Holy Innocents 3

Christian Heritage is on its way to the Sweet 16 for the fifth consecutive season.

The Lady Lions (13-9) defeated Holy Innocents in the second game of their first round Class A-Private playoffs best-of-three series at home on Thursday, 10-3. After winning the first game of the series on Tuesday, coach Mike Leonard said he and his players are happy to still be playing.

"It's a good win anytime you get to advance," he said. "We'll have two new games next week and we have to be at our best."

Christian Heritage advances to play George Walton, the third-ranked team in the classification's playoff bracket that had a bye in the first round. The Lady Lions will travel for another best-of-three series, with a likely doubleheader on Wednesday, though not confirmed yet.

Tatiana Chiesa pitched all seven innings on Wednesday for the win while recording eight strikeouts. Offensively, MacKenzie Hoffman was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Ansley Atkins finished 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI, while Elisa Castelo was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Mary Kate Humphrey was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Faith Humphrey finished 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Franklin County 14, Coahulla Creek 0 (four innings)

Coahulla Creek ended its season on Thursday with a loss in game three of its first round Class 3A playoffs best-of-three series at Franklin County, 14-0.

The Lady Colts (15-10) had two hits, one from Tatum Poe and one from McKinley Staten. Sophia Voyles pitched.

Coahulla Creek will lose two seniors to graduation in RJ Janke and MiKayla Teems.
