Coahulla Creek 15, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 0 (three innings)
Coahulla Creek racked up 15 hits in just two frames of play on Saturday afternoon to lead the Lady Colts one step closer to earning a spot in the Class 3A playoffs. It defeated Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe in three innings in its first game of the Region 6-3A tournament at the Calhoun Recreational Center, 15-0.
Jillian Poe led the offense finishing 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. McKinley Staten was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while Emma Snyder, Sophia Voyles and RJ Janke each had two RBIs on two hits. MiKayla Teems and Meka Henson each had a double.
Voyles pitched all three innings for the win.
Coahulla Creek (13-6, 4-4 in Region 6-3A) advances in the double-elimination tournament to play Sonoraville at 6 p.m. on Monday. The winner of that game will be guaranteed a ticket to the playoffs as either the No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the region.
Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 2, North Murray 0
North Murray dropped its first game of the Region 6-3A tournament at the Calhoun Recreational Center on Saturday morning to Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, 2-0.
Samantha Black led the efforts for the Lady Mountaineers going 2-for-3. Talli Burgess took the loss by pitching all seven innings with nine strikeouts. She allowed just one hit on a two-run home run for LFO to take the win.
North Murray falls to the loser's bracket of the double-elimination tournament and will play Haralson County at 4 p.m. on Monday in an elimination game.
Ridgeland 12, Southeast Whitfield 6
Southeast ended its season on Saturday in a Region 6-4A play-in game to Ridgeland, 12-6.
Lily Phillips hit a three-run home run, and Madison Powell finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Lady Raiders. Emma Long was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Mayliah Williams was 2-for-4 with a double. Haley Terry and Brooke Taylor also hit one double apiece.
Kaylee Taylor pitched all six innings for Southeast to take the loss.
The Lady Raiders will lose two seniors to gradation in Phillips and Terry.
