Northwest Whitfield 10, Ridgeland 4 (game two)

Northwest Whitfield earned a spot in the Class 4A playoffs on Monday after winning both games of its first-round region tournament doubleheader against Ridgeland.

During the second game, the Lady Bruins (22-6) went into the top of the fourth inning tied at four runs apiece until they added another four runs to take the lead for good.

The Lady Bruins finished with 12 hits in the second game, led by Payton Tuder who was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored. Abi Snipes also finished with two doubles, while Torrey Cummings was 2-for-2 with one RBI. Shaylen Sutton had two RBIs and Alyson Jarvi hit a solo home run. Molly Middleton had two hits.

"We finally started having a little more discipline," Northwest coach Todd Middleton said. "We've been kind of struggling a little bit being too anxious."

Destin Jewell earned the win in the second game after pitching all seven innings with five strikeouts.

Northwest hosts Gilmer at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in a single game to determine the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds for the region.

"I just want to see these seniors finish strong," Middleton said.

Christian Heritage 9, Mount Pisgah 0 (six innings)

Christian Heritage's Tatiana Chiesa pitched a no-hitter on Monday to lead her team (10-4) to a win in its final regular-season game at Mount Pisgah, 9-0. Chiesa finished with no walks and seven strikeouts.

Leading the Lady Lions' offense was MacKenzie Hoffman, finishing 2-for-4 with a triple, one RBI and two runs scored. Elisa Castelo was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, and Elle McDonald was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Mary Kate Humphrey finished a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI and one stolen base.

Christian Heritage plays at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday against Bowdon at Mount Paran in a first-round region tournament game.

Sonoraville 6, Coahulla Creek 0

Coahulla Creek will have to win one more game if it is to make the playoffs after falling to Sonoraville in the third round of the Region 6-3A tournament on Monday at Calhoun Recreational Center, 6-0.

The Lady Colts (13-7, 4-4 in Region 6-3A) drop to the loser's bracket and play Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe in a game at 4 p.m. today. With a win, they would be guaranteed either the No. 3 or No. 4 spot from the region in the playoffs.

Monday's game was scoreless through two innings until Sonoraville broke through with five runs in the bottom of the third. Tatum Poe led the efforts for Coahulla Creek, going 2-for-4.

Sophia Voyles took the loss, pitching the first four innings, finishing with five strikeouts.

Haralson County 8, North Murray 0 (six innings)

North Murray ended its season on Monday with a loss in the loser's bracket of the Region 6-3A tournament at Calhoun Recreational Center to Haralson County, 8-0.

Alivia Rymer led the efforts for the Lady Mountaineers, going 2-for-3. Talli Burgess pitched and recorded seven strikeouts.
