Dalton High School began its region schedule on Tuesday at home in a big way, earning two wins over Osborne, 25-13, 25-7, and Creekview, 25-21, 25-20.

Since joining Class 6A, this was the first win for the Lady Catamounts (10-7, 3-1 in Region 6-6A) over a top "powerhouse" of their region in Allatoona, Creekview, Harrison or Sequoyah.

"It was a big night for us," Dalton coach Edis Krnjic said. "We will be battling these teams some more during the season, but our girls needed this. They needed to realize they are capable of this."

Kaysen Welsh lead the team with 17 assists, eight kills, 10 digs, four aces and one block. Abby O'Ferrall finished with eight kills, two digs, one ace and one block, while Tessa Townsend had 13 assists, 13 kills and one ace. Sarah Jane Halyak had six kills, two digs, four aces and two blocks, and Searany De La Cerda had eight digs.

Dalton plays in a tri-match with Adairsville at North Murray beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Northwest Whitfield 2, Pickens 0

Northwest Whitfield 2, Southeast Whitfield 0

Northwest picked up two wins in its first region matches of the season, topping Pickens, 25-14, 25-9, and Southeast, 25-15, 25-10.

Emma Allen led the Lady Bruins (19-4, 2-0 in Region 6-4A) with 14 kills, 16 digs and 22 assists. Kiersten Maynard finished with seven kills, 12 digs and seven aces, while Emma Hayes had 10 digs.

Pickens 2, Southeast Whitfield 1

Southeast fell to Pickens in its other region match of the night in three sets, 23-25, 25-22, 11-15.

Anna Boyd led the team with 13 kills. Heaven Cooper finished the night for the Lady Raiders (3-14, 0-2 in Region 6-4A) with nine kills, while Reina Paniagua had eight kills. Vanessa Gomez and Lisette Gomez each had 15 assists.

Northwest and Southeast are back in action at 5 p.m. on Thursday for a tri-match at Coahulla Creek.

Coahulla Creek 2, Adairsville 1

Calhoun 2, Coahulla Creek 0

Coahulla Creek split its matches on Tuesday night, topping Adairsville in three sets, 25-23, 16-25, 15-13, and falling to Calhoun, 10-25, 11-25.

Kiersten Hixson and Brooklyn Jacobs each finished the night with eight assists, three kills and two aces for the Lady Colts (3-15, 0-1 in Region 6-3A). Skyla Stafford and Ema Turner both had six kills and two aces, while Jamiry Martinez had five aces and two digs.

Coahulla Creek hosts a tri-match with Northwest and Southeast at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

North Murray 2, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 1

Ringgold 2, North Murray 0

North Murray split two matches on Tuesday after defeating Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe in three sets, 23-25, 25-15, 15-8, and falling to Ringgold, 8-25, 21-25.

Cady Wheat led the Lady Mountaineers (6-8, 2-1 in Region 6-3A) with 12 kills and three aces, while Summer Johnston had 18 assists and five aces. Korbin Tipton finished with four kills and seven digs, and Macy Isbell had three kills. Adriana Rangel pitched in with four aces and four digs, while Julie Petty had six assists, two kills, two aces and two digs.

North Murray hosts Adairsville and Dalton for a tri-match beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

North Cobb Christian 3, Christian Heritage 0

Christian Heritage fell to North Cobb in a best three-out-of-five match Tuesday night, 11-25, 13-25, 13-25.

Sophia Waugh led the Lady Lions with three kills, one ace and one dig. Caitlin Brock had six assists, and Gracie Hill had four digs.

Christian Heritage hosts Gilmer at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
