Several local volleyball team competed at tournaments on Saturday.

Here's how they finished.


Dalton lost in the gold bracket semifinals at the Coahulla Creek Volley at the Creek Tournament, finishing 3-2 on the day.

The Lady Catamounts (8-7) first defeated Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe in two sets, then Fannin County in three sets. They lost their last match in the group stage to Notre Dame. In the gold bracket quarterfinals they beat North Murray and then lost to Calhoun in the semifinals, both in two sets.

Tessa Townsend finished the tournament with 18 kills, 38 assists, 14 digs and three aces. Kaysen Welsh had 21 kills, 30 assists, 30 digs and four aces, while Searany De La Cerda had her best outing of the season with 49 digs and two aces. Sarah Jane Halyak had 15 kills, four digs, 12 blocks and three aces. Janayah Christopher finished with 12 kills, nine digs, three blocks and four aces. Abby O'Ferrall had 14 kills and 10 digs.

Northwest Whitfield

Northwest went 3-2 on the day and made it to the gold bracket at the Darlington Tournament.

The Lady Bruins (17-4) defeated Rockmart, 25-6, 25-4, Darlington, 25-10, 25-9, and Rome, 25-8, 25-15. They lost to Heritage-Newnan in three sets, 25-23, 23-25, 13-15, and then in bracket play in three sets again, 25-21, 19-25, 11-15.

Emma Allen finished the day with 29 kills, 45 assists and 11 blocks, while Emma Hayes had 32 kills and 32 digs. Kiara Hughes had 59 assists, and Kiersten Maynard had 45 digs and eight aces. Abigail Crawford had 19 kills, 14 blocks and 10 aces, while Nicole Thurman added 14 blocks.

Christian Heritage

Christian Heritage finished 2-3 on the day after making it to the gold bracket at the Darlington Tournament.

The Lady Lions (9-10) defeated Bremen, 25-19, 25-20 and Cedartown, 25-12, 25-21. They fell to Coosa in three sets, 12-25, 25-20, 5-10, LaFayette, 19-25, 14-25, and Coosa again in bracket play, 9-25, 22-25.

Sophia Waugh finished the tournament with 24 kills, 26 digs, two aces and four blocks. Gracie Hill had 68 digs and two aces, while Amelia White had 13 kills, 28 digs and 10 aces. Caitlin Brock added 14 kills, 23 digs and three aces, and Athena Critides had 11 kills. Ava Poteet finished with 27 digs and three aces, while Ryleigh Payne had five kills and five blocks. Amariah Simmons chipped in with five kills and one ace.

Southeast Whitfield

Southeast finished 1-2 and made it to the gold bracket at Coahulla Creek's Volley at the Creek tournament.

The Lady Raiders (3-14) fell to lost to North Murray, 20-25, 18-25, and then defeated Coahulla Creek, 25-20, 25-16. They fell to Notre Dame in bracket play, 12-25,17-25.

Heaven Cooper finished the day with 10 kills and five blocks. Vanessa Gomez had 17 assists, six kills, eight digs and four aces. Lisette Gomez had 11 assists, while AnnaMaria Ramsey had seven kills. Stephanie Sullivan had nine digs.
