For the Dalton State College Roadrunners basketball team, 13 is a lucky number.
The No.6-ranked Roadrunners won their thirteenth game in a row Thursday night with an 89-81 win over Stillman College (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) on campus at Bandy Gymnasium. The Roadrunners improved to 20-1, 9-1 Southern States Athletic Conference with the conference win. Stillman College fell to 12-7, 5-5 SSAC.
For the Roadrunners, Kevon Tucker led the team in scoring with 21 points. Also scoring in double figures were Randy Bell (16), C.J. Perry (14), Rodley Adjei (14) and Aaron Burress (10). Dauson Womack pulled down 11 rebounds. Sean Cranney had six assists.
Dalton State led Stillman at the half 40-33 and outscored its opponent 49-48 in the second half. It was a strong shooting night for Dalton State as the team went 30-of-61 (49%) from the field and 11-of-22 (50%) from the 3-point line.
The Roadrunners are in action again Saturday at 2 p.m. as they take on Mobile (Alabama) at Bandy Gym in the school's Homecoming game.
There are plenty of perks for attendees. The first 50 students get a free Homecoming T-shirt. The first 100 students will be handed Homecoming-themed thunder sticks noisemakers to help cheer on the Roadrunners. Also, the first 75 community members will receive a free Homecoming T-shirt. Fans are encouraged to wear black in support of the Roadrunners. The game will feature the presentation and crowning of the court during halftime.
Tickets are $5 for general admission.
