The Dalton State College athletic department has recently seen some reorganizing of job duties with a few personnel assuming new responsibilities.
Jon Jaudon will continue his position as interim chief of staff for the college, while Director of Soccer Saif Alsafeer will add acting athletic director to his detail. Alsafeer came to Dalton State from his alma mater, Florida College, where he spent five years leading the Falcons men's team.
In addition to coaching, Alsafeer also spent time under Florida College Athletic Director Pat Todd as assistant athletic director. He is also serving as an assistant coach to Dalton's first-year United Soccer League League Two team the Red Wolves.
"Dalton State has an excellent athletics department which has seen great success in recent years," Alsafeer said. "Our coaches and staff members have a commitment to excellence that is evident in their daily work as they represent the college on our campus and in our Dalton community. I am grateful that Dr. Venable and Jon Jaudon have trusted me with such a great opportunity. I look forward to representing Dalton State Athletics as we serve our students and our community."
Veronica Summers will take on additional managerial responsibilities and the fiscal affairs for the chief of staff. She will also provide leadership for various athletic committee assignments.
Dean Thompson will use his background in human resources to serve as the primary point of contact for HR and Sports Medicine, while Erik Simpson will add facilities to his role.
Ben Rickett will continue in his position helping to increase private philanthropy used for scholarships and other athletic department projects.
All changes were effective beginning on Monday.
"Athletics is fortunate to have talented and dedicated staff and coaches," Jaudon said. "They value the opportunity to impact young women and men through sport. It is an honor to work beside them and I am grateful for their loyalty."
