Dalton Middle’s baseball team collected 10 hits in a season-opening 11-2 victory over Lake Forest this past Thursday in Cleveland, Tenn.

Wyatt Erwin, Maddux Houghton, Cole Shelton, Vinnie Vega and Shaw Richardson all had doubles for the Cougars. Jackson Bell picked up the win, striking out five and walking one in five innings pitched.

The Cougars fell to 1-1 with a 5-1 loss to Gordon Lee on Monday at home.

Dalton JV 7, Gordon Lee 3: Also on Monday, the junior varsity Cougars were led to victory by Caden Stokes, who picked up the win on the mound and had an RBI single.

Thomas Wright and Jantzen Calvo each added an RBI hit for the Cougars (1-0).

Softball

Christian Heritage 7, Lookout Valley (Tenn.) 1: Ashlyn Clements’ three-run triple was among the highlights for the Lady Lions in Tuesday’s season-opening win at home.

Halle Poteet, Julia McDonald, Reagan Benedict and Kayleigh Fitzgerald each finished with two hits, while Erin Leonard earned the complete-game victory in the circle.
