The Dalton State College Roadrunner took a one-game break from Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) action and in picked up win number 16 with an 86-62 win over Fisk University (Nashville, Tennessee) in Mashburn Arena at the Dalton Convention Center Tuesday night.

Dalton State is now 16-1, 5-1 SSAC.

Five Roadrunners scored in double-figures led by Randy Bell with 23 points, six assists, and three rebounds. Kevon Tucker (11), Aaron Burress (10) and Rodley Adjei (10) were also in double-digits along with Igor Stokic who posted a 10 point and 10 rebound double-double.

Dalton State raced out to a 10-0 lead in the first three minutes of the contest. Fisk started to heat up from the field shortly after, cutting the lead to three points (14-11) with 12:30 remaining in the half.

Dalton State then steadily drew the lead out getting it to 11 points (31-20) after a dunk from C.J. Perry at the 7:38 mark.

Fisk made one more run and got the deficit back to single digits with under two minutes left, but Dalton State closed with a 10-0 run to end the half with a 47-30 lead.

The Bulldogs stormed out of the halftime break with a 15-2 run to close within four points (47-45) just three minutes into the second period. Bell and Tucker answered for the Roadrunners with seven-straight to go back up by double-digits.

Hustle plays from Fisk kept the game close for a while, but Dalton State gradually drew the lead out. With 7:21 on the clock, the lead stood at 21 points (76-55).

Marcus Summerville led Fisk with 20 points, with A.J. Hassell collecting 11 points.

No. 19 Dalton State is on the road the next two weeks with three matchups against William Carey (Mississippi) on Saturday, No. 8 Loyola (Louisiana) on Monday and Martin Methodist (Tennessee) on Saturday, Jan. 25.

They will be back at home on Thursday, Jan. 30, against Stillman (Alabama.) and Saturday, Feb. 1, against Mobile (Alabama). Both games will be on campus at Bandy Gymnasium.
