The Whitfield Education Foundation crowned championship teams in five flights during a select shot tournament last week at Dalton Golf and Country Club.

Tourney officials said a field of 26 teams helped raise almost $20,000 for the WEF, a non-profit organization that supports Whitfield County Schools with grants for teacher-developed programs.

First, second and third places were awarded in each flight, with two flights for the morning session and three for the afternoon.

n First flight, morning: 1. Tunnel Hill Properties (Ken Gowin, Kenny Reed, Chad Young, David Callahan); 2. AAED Inc. (Jeff Rayburn, Alan Janney, Jason Bell); 3. Dell (Jim Hardin, Lora Hardin, Jim Rice, Mel Rodriguez).

n Second flight, morning: 1. Lenmar Chemical Corp. (Don Campbell, Chester King, Glen Gilstrap, Clifford McCurdy); 2. Dickson (Tom Dickson, Mike Vaden, Roger Williams, John Meadows); 3. Cross Plains Tufters (Mark Jamison, Jerry Jamison, Greg Parsons, Bill Pelfrey)

n First flight, afternoon: 1. Dalton Paper Products (Dewey Reams, Andy White, Charlie Hemphill, Ricky Lake); 2. Dalton Beverage (David Mansfield, Ron Lowery, Cres Dodd, C.J. Dodd); 3. Appalachian Community Bank (Herman Davis, Seth Davis, Dwight Hefner, Matt Oxford).

n Second flight, afternoon: 1. Wachovia Bank (Susan Brown, Dale Cruse, Bob Chiddister, Gil Milton); 2. Omnova Solutions (Dan Rogers, Werner Braun, Lamar Morgan, John Draper); 3. Card-Monroe Corp. (Jerry Hendricks, Ronnie Hicks, Allen Osborne, Mike Byrd).

n Third flight (afternoon): 1. Community Tectonics Architects (Don Shell, Daryl Brady, Richard Schoen, Erica Sraiford); 2. Dalton Whitfield Bank/Peeples (Aaron Sewell, Rusty Lount, Dan Peeples, Eric Kyer); 3. Lyle Industries (Larry Brookshire, Bill Walter, Randall Holley, Roger Cheek).
